Appearance

 • Overall: Tuya has a petite stature with dark short hair and light hazel-green eyes. She is light skinned and has a beauty mark near the bridge of her nose. Her ears are pierced with gold earrings and occasionally wears glasses during class and her forehead is marked with a black bindi. Tuya dresses in a feminine manner, wearing light coloured short-sleeved cardigans and loose ruffled tops. She would often wear jean shorts and enjoys adding keychains and trinkets to her belt and wears knee-high socks sneakers or high-top converses (and occasionally mid-heeled sandals.)
 • School Uniform: Tuya’s High School operates under a Japanese school system requiring uniforms. It is consisting of a blue blazer with a white undershirt, a purple tie and a dark skirt, black loafers with sheer black tights. Occasionally, Tuya wears a headband or clips in her hair.
 • Formal: She owns a plethora of Shalwar Kameez for many occasions and generally puts a lotus clip in her hair [the symbolism being that Hindus revere it with the gods Vishnu, Brahma and to a lesser degree Kubera, and the goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. Often used as an example of divine beauty and purity]

Personality

Tuya is defined with introspectiveness and curiosity. She’s a quiet person but can hold a conversation if the topic interests her. She tends to daydream a lot and does things her own way, and most of the time, she doesn't seem all that concerned about whether people think her actions of peculiar. She is often noted as being in her own little world. While her nonconformity tends to be off-putting to most that are unaware of Tuya’s natural ways, she’s proven to know plenty of things and delights in sharing what she knows when prompted. She spends quite a bit of time at SFIT as an observer afterschool while her parents work and tend to ask questions while the college students worked on their projects. She can be shy when met with new circumstances and sometimes struggles with sudden changes in common routines. She is meticulous with her belongings and does not like when others touch her things, a trait that her mother deems she has due to being an only child. This also leads to her introversion towards newcomers and would hide behind people she knows if they’re present until they interact with her or she learns enough about them to interact with them first. Tuya has the tendency to miss little hints to certain behavioural cues other’s exhibit lest it’s negative and is sensitive towards feeling that she is bothering someone or is being purposely ignored. It is noted that she has plenty of friends at her school but generally does not converse with them outside of that environment while finding solace in her own company.

When Tuya is comfortable around someone, she is open with her behaviour, often described as being very animated. She enjoys being silly and being amusing to her parent’s chagrin and would wander off if she desires to, which would occasionally cause trouble for those who are supposed to keep an eye on her [aside from when she is in SFIT’s busy environment]. She appears to not be interested in crushes and her friends are aware of how Tuya would be oblivious to them, although she will eventually acknowledge it on her own time. She is respectful to her elders although she may show a bit of irritation when she is forced to do things she does not favour doing (in some cases, she would purposely hide from Tadashi to mess with him.) Tuya loves fun and is naturally drawn to anyone that fits her definition of fun (explaining why she enjoys Fred and Honey’s presence the most), but mostly the pleasure of learning something new.

Academia + Interests

Tuya attends Komorebi Private High School (modelled after The College Preparatory School in Oakland, CA) with a wide diversity of students. It’s run under a Japanese school system, requiring mandatory uniforms and the students to have full participation in the school environment. Being a private school, it requires a tuition to attend. The school encourages active participation within clubs and overall upkeeping of the school—paying for no janitors because the student’s keep the school clean. KPHS has a large STEM program and is well known for being the gateway for successful graduates aiming towards SFIT’s illustrious programs and scholarships.

Academic Level:

Tuya portrays herself as a middling student but has the potential to make high marks. In most cases, she makes an A-average. While she is intelligent, she can be lazy and is satisfied with simply passing class rather than excelling early on, but under her parent’s request, she strives for the best on school projects, essays, and exams. Her true intellect shines in the subjects of medical science and mathematics, both which she finds interesting and second-nature to accomplish.

Favourite Subjects:

 • Biology; Mathematics; Medicine

Least Favourable:

 • Public Speaking

School Clubs:

 • Multicultural Studies Club
 • Music Club

Aspiring Career Choice:

 • Biomedical Science [Neurological Engineering]

Occupation:

 • High School Student
 • Office Assistant (Volunteering)

Relationships

Her Family [Amitabh and Sabira Chaudhri]

Tuya is very close to her parents and respects their rules for her. To most that have either Chaudhri for a professor would know how strict they were, and some would feel bad for Tuya, but she would always affirm that they’re the best parents she could ask for. Both parents have Ph. D’s (Her mother for Biomedical Engineering including International Affairs and father in Neural Engineering and Psychology) As an only child, she has no competition receiving their affection, however, she is most certainly not spoiled. Her mother and father both voice that they want the best for her but at the same time, want to instil independence and responsibility into her early on without them forcing her. However, they’re aware of her idleness in school during her first year but are firm on her exams and projects and do not expect average on them since they pay her tuition and want her to understand that things will not simply be handed to her. In her later years, she is pushed to excel to the school’s Top Ten graduates with any indolence receiving a consequence. The reason for Tuya getting a chance to meet the “Nerd Squad” was due to her parents bringing her along to SFIT until it was time for them to leave. They’re comfortable leaving her under the supervision of Tadashi Hamada (knowing he has a younger sibling of his own.) This was initially a temporary request as they were proposing hiring a sitter for Tuya (much to her distaste) but Tadashi’s affirmations of not minding her, (especially since she is well-behaved) and his dedication to his work was well instilled the confidence in allowing her to remain amongst the older students as long as she remained “rarely seen and well behaved”.

 • Amitabh Chaudhri has an Indian and Chinese mother [often called the informal term 'Chindian'] and Pakistani father. Though born in Pakistan, he has spent several years in Singapore and speaks Hindi and Mandarin interchangeably. He's skilled in business and negotiating deals which he learned from his affluent business tycoon of a father.
 • Sabira met Amitabh while he was waiting out a delay on the plane back to Pakistan to visit his family.
 • Sabira learned fluent Mandarin while working in China for several years as well as mastering Baji Quan.
 • Tuya's paternal grandparents do not live in the States, both living in Singapore and her grandfather occasionally visiting them when he's doing business in San Fransokyo.
 • Tuya's maternal grandmother (as the grandfather is deceased) does not associate with them.
 • Some years after immigrating to the United States, Sabira legally discarded her Mongolian name, Tsetsegmaa.
 • Sabira's complexion is actually fair but tanned due to frequently working in the sun.

Hiro Hamada

Tuya meets Hiro through Tadashi, and initially, they did not hit it off at first. Tuya’s introversive nature kept her out of his way most of the time. In few cases, she’d drop a polite greeting and wander off. Tadashi would explain that it was just the way she was when she meets new people and that she’d warm up to him when she’s ready. Eventually, she does hearing his interest in the school and asking him about what inspires him to pursue robotics. Hiro enjoys Tuya’s company, as she tends to share her own quirky outlook on things. Tuya generally acts the same way with Hiro as she did with her other friends, but the frequency of seeing him broadened her communication more and she willingly begins spending more time with him outside of the lab. He became more interested towards her views yet would often joke about her trailing off and getting distracted by whatever caught her curiosity. Tuya drags Hiro everywhere if he allows it, from planetariums to botanical gardens, she’s excited to want to spend time with someone. She would invite him to her High School’s Cultural Festival (which her club holds every year), giving insight on her own background as a child of immigrants as well and intends on dragging him along to their schools Music Jubilee (he didn’t get to attend initially due to being too busy). Occasionally, he’d try to get her to go to local botfights but they’re always rejected—knowing her parents would have her and his head (one, for her going, and two, for him taking her.)

Upon hearing of Tadashi’s death, Tuya doesn’t interact with Hiro, or anyone else, for a while until she bumps into him while visiting Cass to drop off flowers her parents sent. Things were a bit awkward between the two, especially with Tuya’s inexperience with dealing with grief. Over the course of time, as well as Hiro coming to terms with Tadashi’s passing (the course of the movie, basically) do they start interacting again.

Hiro does begin to crush on her first after several months (post-movie) and tries to hide it which is more comedic to everyone else with Tuya always being in her own little world to notice the awkward yet subtle changes in his behaviour. It takes a while for her to realise that she reciprocates the same feelings for Hiro too but shows little interest in an actual relationship with him. Neither of them asks each other and remain close friends until Tuya’s fifteenth birthday when he gives her a robotic munchkin cat as a present (that functions as a companion and something to remind her of forgotten homework due dates). When Tuya chooses to leave for Singapore for a year with her father on a business trip, they stay in constant contact with video chats and text messages. When Tuya returns on New Year’s Eve to spend the holiday at the Lucky Cat Café, Hiro asks Tuya to be his girlfriend which she humorously refused to answer until midnight struck solidifying their relationship as well as their first (clumsy yet memorable) kiss.

Honey Lemon [Miele Rodriguez] [Age: 22 Years Old]

Tuya and Honey Lemon are close as Honey tends to dote on the younger girl most chances she gets due to not having little siblings of her own. Upon first meeting Honey, Tuya showed high interest in her experiments, and at one point, was given her own exploding colour blue coloured ball that ended up fumbling onto Tadashi with hilarious results. Tuya would be allowed to braid Honey’s hair and be able to sit at a relative distance to observe her in the lab. She would also visit Honey’s café for tea (since Honey is stern about not letting Tuya have coffee without her parent’s saying so). Honey often proclaims herself as the secondary babysitter when Tadashi cannot. (The real name I chose for Honey Lemon is Miele which is Italian for Honey, and Rodriguez, her V. A’s surname.)

Wasabi [Khary Wayans Jr.] [Age: 24 Years Old]

Tuya often thinks Wasabi ruins her fun when he’s generally trying to keep her “out of harm’s way” when Tadashi is occupied. This would include making her sit in a chair far from the action or “danger” as he interprets it—and even though she doesn’t act out, she doesn’t like it. When he’s not muddling over her wellbeing, he often lets her sit on his shoulders (as she doesn’t weigh much in his opinion) or do 1,000-piece puzzles with her (in which they’d always finish, and he would buy more for her). {The name I chose for Wasabi was a merge of the TV. series V.A's first name and his Movie V.A's surname)

Go-Go Tomago {Ethel Eun-ha Kwon} [Age: 25 Years Old]

Tuya knows GoGo quite well as she is one of her mother’s favoured students. Tuya generally does not interact with her much since she feels that the older woman would be easily annoyed if she did rather than involve her. However, they’re on good terms and GoGo tends to show care for Tuya and would engage in conversations, frequently revolving around the music they would share with each other. GoGo would also give Tuya pointers on her homework, and on free days, take her rollerblading. Tuya finds it gross she puts gum on things when she’s done with it, mentioning it once only to receive a laugh. It never deterred GoGo from doing what GoGo wanted to do. Lastly, Tuya would always be excited to hear stories about GoGo being raised in South Korea before she came to San Fransokyo. (Ethel is the canonly-coined name for GoGo but I also gave her the name Eun-ha, meaning ‘Silver River’; Kwon is a Korean surname meaning ‘Authority’)

Frederick “Fred” Frederickson IV [Age: 24 Years Old]

Fred is the primary provider of fun when Tuya spends time in the lab, often with somewhat reckless abandon. He’s also the reason Tuya has a wide array (and questionable use) of knowledge regarding comics/manga, fan-theories, Japanese folklore—the list goes on. Fred is the giver of Tuya’s nickname, Pip (short for pip-squeak for being very short). He often brings her movies (while explaining the authenticity of the adaption to the original work) and sweets which he would occasionally get into trouble with Honey for doing. Aside from Honey, she enjoys being around Fred as long as fun is involved. For her birthday, he always buys her large Tsum-Tsum plushies no matter how old she gets which she always keeps and loves. Tuya chooses to call him “Freddy” more than Fred.

Tadashi Hamada [Canon-Verse] [Age: 20 Years Old]

Tuya was close to Tadashi, calling him ‘Bhaiyya’, which meant brother. She would spend most of her time in the lab around him and is most well-behaved (rather, she sits still and observes more) with Tadashi. She saw most of the development of Baymax (and the fails), but when Baymax was complete, she got a chance to try out the scan. Tadashi would often note how Tuya would attempt to get Baymax to give her more lollipops until the robot said she would get cavities from them (and then stopped giving them to her). Tadashi is the reason for her meeting his younger brother, Hiro Hamada, which became an experience to remember. When Tadashi died, it was devastating to Tuya and made her quite emotionally distant with her friends and family as she was unfamiliar with dealing with grief. Quite sometime later, she learned to accept his death but doesn’t allow herself to speak or think about it—if so, she tends to hyper-focus on her hobbies or schoolwork to keep her mind occupied. However, despite him being gone, she still remembers all the good times they had and continues to live good times through Baymax and Hiro.

Background

Enkhtuya “Tuya” Chaudhri was born to two immigrant parents in San Fransokyo, California. She’s an only child and raised in an upper-middle-class lifestyle, however, this did little to captivate her as she was always fond of the world and “all the little things” everyone overlooked. Her parents raised her to follow her own path, but still the right path, and not conform to how others want her to be and encouraged her to do her best. Coming from a family of immigrants, she admires learning them both on where they lived and keeps their cultures as a part of who she is while embracing the one around her. Her parents are generally busy people and would motivate Tuya to take up various interests to keep her occupied and always thinking so she wouldn’t be bored. This does lead to her imaginative/daydreaming behaviour, but it never hindered her in later years. She was incredibly shy in elementary school and favoured the company of her teachers than other students. Only until middle school did she begin to open up and share her quirky antics with the others, performing random acts of kindness to students and “beautifying the school” with decorations with many others to make others happy. She became known as the girl that would hold mini performances in the cafeteria with her Spacedrum. Her interest branches out to medical science which was encouraged greatly by her teachers and parents. As a teenager, she attends Komorebi Private High School making excellent grades and taking part in mandatory clubs (MSC and Photography), the business of high school putting a dent in her carefree ways growing up. Her parents, unwilling to let Tuya stay home by herself, would show up at SFIT until they were finished with their work. With the free time she had, she would ask questions about other student’s projects, the main one being their “purpose” or “inspiration” to creating what they’d be working on. In few cases, she’d show dissatisfaction, but in most, she would admire the contribution it would make. Of course, her mother did not appreciate her wandering around and supposedly being a bother, which leads to her Tadashi Hamada (one of Mrs Chaudhri’s students) offering to keep an eye on Tuya (being that he had a younger sibling himself.) She would watch Baymax’s development and showed favour towards the cute and huggable design. Gradually, she becomes accustomed to being amongst the others, particularly favouring Fred who never fails to make her laugh and receiving the nickname, “Pip” from him and Honey Lemon for both reasons of her being so optimistically entertaining and watching explosions.

{Film Related} Tuya plays a very small role in the events of the movie. She is present to watch Hiro’s presentation of his Microbots but leaves early with her parents to attend a convention across town. She learns of Tadashi’s death from her parents and inexperienced with the emotions of grief, she kept to herself more and focused on school. She comes across Hiro a week afterwards to deliver flowers and food to Hiro’s aunt but runs into him instead, holding a small conversation before an awkward goodbye. She appears again at Alistair Krei’s presentation with her parents until she is separated from them in the crowd, and watches from a distance to watch the battle unfold. Lastly, she’s at the Lucky Cat Café fawning over the news of the heroic team’s accomplishments and assisting Cass with serving, whispering to Hiro if his super-dentity was “supposed to be a secret because it’s pretty obvious”, laughing and running off to greet her friends from school that walked in.

| Future |

As an adult, Tuya is married to Hiro Hamada and a successful Biomedical Scientist. Now addressed as Dr. Chaudhri (as Hiro is addressed as Professor/Dr. Hamada), she works partially alongside him as a professor at the San Fransokyo Insititute of Technology but dedicating her life to government-mandated research facilities. Constantly busy and somewhat a workaholic, one would not imagine either being able to find time for the four children they would eventually have; their oldest to youngest being Sarhai, Eri, and the twins: Yuichi and Yachiko. Having prolific jobs, they live comfortably with an upper-middle-class lifestyle (something Tuya was used too). Years prior to Sarhai's birth, Tuya has taken on hero-work with Hiro when he learns she's been taking martial arts lessons, donning the alias "Kali". Upon her pregnancy, she swore off her involvement with the Team and focused on her work and raising her child.
Tuya does worry about Hiro, not so much for the danger of his Hero-work as he's made great advancements in the technology used to expand his offensive tactics and increase defence, but more for the stress he places on himself as a teacher, a hero, and a father (especially with Yachi's sudden turn towards the underground affairs of 'Sokyo upon her failure of attending SFIT). While more receptive towards seeking advice or talking it out, he does portray a habit of bottling up his thoughts and requires careful urging to get him to reveal them. While used to the stress of everyday life, there are times where Tuya notices that Hiro would allow it to consume him.

Miscellaneous

 • The name Tuya’s father refers to her as, “Beti”, is an affectionate term for daughter. Likewise, Tuya refers to her father as "Baba" and her mother as "mama-ji" or "mummy".
 • Tuya speaks with a noticeable Punjabi accent. It is strong with her father and is actually shared slightly with her mother after years of hearing it.
 • In her late teens, Tuya dresses in a traditional fashion, swapping out her shorts and frills for wearing the traditional Salwar Kameez and dupatta, as well as veiling her hair and partially her face. Despite being raised in America, she retains and respects her parent’s cultural background and customs which influences her behaviour into adulthood.
 • Tuya’s parents are both immigrants, her father was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and her mother, born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. They both receive citizenship three years after arriving in the country. While her father is somewhat rooted in his cultural values and traditions, Tuya’s mother was not, out of personal choice—therefore, it was the least passed on to their daughter.
 • Tuya is inspired by her parent’s involvement in medicine and science which impacted her career choices as an adult.
 • By the age of twenty, Tuya’s passport holds the stamps for Singapore, England, Pakistan, Ireland, and Japan.
 • Tuya enjoys learning about medicine, not only because it’s a necessary part of her career choice, but because she wants to know what to do or say if someone asks or needs help. She gets CPR and First Aid certification at the age of 16 years old.
 • As an adult, she is trained in T'ai chi ch'uan and Baji Quan.
 • Her teachers always say the same thing about Tuya’s education, “She has the potential to exceed standards but she can be indolent.” Of course, her parents let her ease into high school for her first year but do not stand for that behaviour come her second, third, and final year.
 • Tuya owns a peach and white furred American Fuzzy Lop rabbit named Boo and later a robotic munchkin cat (a gift from Hiro) she named Bachi [meaning 'baby']
 • She does not eat beef being a Hindu, as the cow is sacred in the religion.
 • Tuya prefers to not be addressed by her first name since many tend to struggle with pronouncing and spelling it.
 • She speaks and writes fluent Hindi, Mandarin, and English. She does not speak Mongolian but grasps enough to understand the few words that her mother uses. She learns sign-language in her fourth year in a class provided by Komorebi High.
 • Fred refers to Tuya as “Pip” for pip-squeak because of how small she is compared to the others and how well she can vanish behind someone because of that. Honey Lemon had to inform him that pip-squeak is generally an insulting term but Tuya liked the name Pip anyway and it stuck.
 • Tuya’s favourite colour is “winter” and she will not answer otherwise. Generally, this means light and dark blues, purples, and white.
 • She enjoys coffee but her parents rarely allow her to drink it. Fred usually delivers on giving her cups of sugary, milky coffee (until Honey Lemon stopped him). She eventually starts drinking copious amounts of vanilla chai.
 • Tuya owns a Thirteen-Note Chromatic Spacedrum, or Handpan, (which is roughly $1800-$2000) and knows how to play it well. Her Mother felt that knowing how to play an instrument would be good for Tuya. After being inspired by Yuki Koshimoto performing on a Spacedrum, Tuya knew she’d want to learn that and has been playing it for four years. She can currently replicate the song Koshimoto plays among a few more, such as “Minkara”.

Scrapped Ideas

 • Tuya was going to be Hispanic but I favoured the idea of being South Asian to take from previously scrapped characters and because I already have two Hispanic FCs.
 • She was going to have a hime-cut, with her hair let down instead of her split bangs and ponytail. This would be later changed to her having short hair.
 • Previous versions had more than two ethnicities but were scrapped for simplicities sake and how common it was to have more than two listed. This would be later adjusted to have the parents be of mixed race, thus making Tuya multiracial rather than biracial.
 • Tuya’s height was changed two times: first 5’0”, then 4’7”, then it settled on 4’9”.
 • Tuya was first interested in forensic anthropology but it was later changed to biomedical science and neurosurgery in which she follows alongside her parent’s interest in the field.
 • Initially, Enkhtuya was going to be Narantsetseg, but I did not like the way it sounded with her surname.
 • Tuya was initially going to be an average student, but this did not fit well with how her parent’s standards were displayed.
 • Tuya was going to have a minor crush on Tadashi, this would be changed to her looking up to him as a respected older sibling.
 • I have thought about giving Tuya an older sibling, but this was scrapped for the above reason.
 • She did not initially have a middle name until recently.
